Jay D. Brock- Co-Founder and Artistic Director
Stage Director-Opera Alterna productions: Magnum Opus, Signor Deluso, The Women, Dido and Aeneas: Jay has been directing theatre and opera in the DC area for the past four years and is currently the Artistic Director of Limelight Theater in Rockville for which he has most recently directed the musical, Closer Than Ever.  He holds an MFA in Directing from The Catholic University of America and an additional master’s degree from The University of California in Santa Barbara, and is currently an associate member of SSDC. Other credits Benjamin T. Sarah Philippa- Co-Founder
Spinto Soprano: Opera Alterna Roles: Clara in Magnum Opus; Claire in Signor Deluso; The Mother in The Women; Dido in Dido and Aeneas: Other roles include: Lucienne (Die tote Stadt), Witch and Mother (Hansel and Gretel),).  Ms. Philippa originated the role of Constanza in Mozart and the Grey Stewart.  She has performed with companies such as Summer Opera Theater, Opera Theater of Northern Virginia, Opera Alterna, Bel Cantanti, Victorian Lyric Opera Theater and the Catholic University of America.  She is a student of voice teacher Bill Schuman and vocal coach Patrick O'donnell.

Daniele Lorio- Senior Company Member
Dramatic Coloratura Soprano: Opera Alterna Roles: Celie in Signor Deluso and Melpommene in Magnum Opus: Daniele received her Bachelor of Arts in vocal performance from North Carolina School of the Arts and her Masters in Opera Performance from University of Texas, Austin, where she sang Barbara Ansley in Roman Fever, Second Lady, and Vera Boronel. She was Annio with the Austria-American Mozart Academy. She has sung Saffi from Zigeuner Baron, Psyche from Princess Ida, Gianetta from L’Elisir d’Amore, and Nora from Riders to the Sea. She won the ‘07 Edvard Grieg Competition hosted by the Royal Norwegian Embassy.  Last summer she sang Celie in Signor Deluso with Opera Alterna in Washington DC Fringe Festival, Cupid in Orpheus in the Underworld with In Series, and recently sang the title rolein the world premiere of the opera Esther.  Daniele Studies with Bill Schuman.

Tad Czyzewski- Company Member
Baritone: Opera Alterna Roles: Robert in Magnum Opus, Signor Deluso in Signor Deluso: Tad has appeared on Kennedy Center stages as the soloist in the Brahms Liebeslieder with the Suzanne Farrell Ballet (“fine bass”, New York Times), as the thief in Grieg's Peer Gynt with the National Symphony Orchestra, and in a new electronic opera for the Page-to-Stage festival.  He has performed with the Virginia Opera Spectrum Resident Artists Program, Forgotten Opera Company, Summer Opera Theatre Company, Master Chorale of Washington, and the National Philharmonic Chorale. Among the roles in his operatic repertoire are Belcore in L’Elisir d’Amore, Marcello and Schaunard in La Bohème, the Count in Le Nozze di Figaro, Baron Douphol in La Traviata, Malatesta in Don Pasquale, Valetin in Faust, and Wolfram in Tannhäuser.  Mr. Czyzewski is equally versed in concert repertoire and oratorio works. Performances have included the Brahms Ein Deutsches Requiem, Handel Messiah, Mendelssohn St. Paul, Duruflé Requiem, and Bernstein’s Mass. Upcoming engagements include Marcello (La Bohème) and the Mandarin (Turandot) in a Puccini concert with the Washington Chorus, the baritone soloist in Carmina Burana with Choralis, and as the baritone soloist in the Fauré and Mozart Requiems in the Washington Summer Sings series. He is also reprising his role in the electronica opera, Life in Death , at this year's Fringe Festival.

Robert Legge- Company Member
Tenor: Opera Alterna Roles: John in Magnum Opus; Leon in Signor Deluso: Of his performance in Signor Deluso at last year's Fringe Festival, Bob Anthony lauded, "Rob Legge as the lover Leon sparkled with a fully voiced tenor that easily scaled into his upper range in creamy fashion.” Mr. Legge has performed with the Washington National Opera (The Flying Dutchman, Carmen), The Washington Savoyards (The Merry Widow), and the Summer Opera Theater Company (Rigoletto, Cendrillon). A graduate of the Catholic University of America, he performed numerous roles at the collegiate level including Ferrando (Cosi Fan Tutte), the title role in Albert Herring, and Mr. Marshall (Regina). He has also sung as a guest soloist in churches across the country and currently cantors at Blessed Sacrament Parish, and conducts the Academy of the Holy Cross Concert Choir. He studies voice with Mr. Russell Penny.
